On Friday, May 30, we marked three years of fuzzsjakk with a beautiful night of celebration — FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE & the Afterlounge. With 70 players, two DJs, a late-night lounge, and an emotional full-circle story, this became our biggest tournament to date — and our third largest event ever, behind the two legendary chessraves.

As a token of appreciation, all participants received a custom-made Fuzzsjakk keychain — a small thank-you for supporting the journey by showing up and playing.

8 rounds of 5+2 blitz chess — with the top boards played live on stage and projected on a massive screen behind the players.

This was our first time at Trondheim Spektrum, and the venue truly delivered. With its high ceilings, dreamy lighting and room for both intense focus and easy flow, it set the perfect tone for the night.

A big thanks to Trondheim Spektrum for making this possible — and to DJ Cut Corners for curating the musical atmosphere throughout the tournament.

Throughout the evening, the atmosphere was warm and vibrant — players moving between boards, friends gathering by the bar, and many enjoying food and drinks while soaking in the chess and the vibe.

It’s always free to drop by, feel the energy, and be part of it — whether you play or not. Fuzzsjakk is for everyone.

Earlier this year, we began showcasing top-board games on stage using DGT boards — a way to give the spotlight to the most exciting matchups of the night. Now, for the second time, we continue with our exciting collaboration:

Together with Witty Alien, we’ll highlight the Best Game of the Tournament (based on the DGT-boards) — and you help decide which.

All games from the stage are now live in the DGT Room. Watch, relive, and vote for your favorite. The three most-voted games will be sent to Witty Alien, who’ll choose one to analyze and stream for his 30,000 followers on Twitch.

The full analysis will also be available in the DGT Room next week.

Take a look. Cast your vote. Help us share the game that deserves to be seen.

Tournament Winner:

Eivind Bruaset (7 out of 8 points)

This one came with a twist.
André Nielsen (FIDE 2091) finished with 7/8 points and had already beaten Eivind Bruaset (FIDE 2138) earlier in the tournament — making him the rightful winner.

But when the host asked if they wanted to settle this with a final battle — André and Eivind both agreed. A true sportsmanship of André who took a decisión for the crowd.

What followed was a high-stakes showdown on stage in front of the entire room — where Eivind came out on top.
A powerful win, and Eivind’s third Fuzz Blitz Lounge title!

Master’s Challenge

After both Andre Nielsen and Eivind Bruaset finished on 7 out of 8 points, they were offered a final showdown on stage — an unofficial duel to crown the true champion.

Andre, who had already defeated Eivind in round 7 and could have taken the 800 NOK prize, chose to offer a rematch instead.

Eivind seized the moment, played brilliantly, and claimed revenge. The entire room applauded — a fitting end to Fuzzsjakk’s 3-year anniversary.

AFTERLOUNGE & DJs

From 21:00 to midnight, we hosted our Fuzz Afterlounge, containing a kinda afterparty with chess in the room and on stage. Most participants stayed for casual games, good conversation, and a warm, laid-back vibe. DJ Pedro SanMartin delivered a deep and dreamy set blending melodic house, progressive electronica, and ambient textures. It was hypnotic, warm, and perfectly tuned to the flow of the night.

At 22:00, we kicked off Fuzzroulette — a bullet-format (2+1) king-of-the-hill showdown on stage. Rueben Smith held the throne with an impressive streak of 6 wins in a row, defeating challenger after challenger until the clock struck 23:00.

As an extra nod to his flair, Rueben received a gift card to the Flåklypa Grand Prix film screening at Trondheim Spektrum this coming September.

Thank you

To all players, guests, and collaborators – thank you.
To Trondheim Spektrum – we’re proud to have started something here together.
The Best Game will be analyzed by Witty Alien next week.
