Fuzzsjakk launched its very first official amateur tournament — and it turned into a night to remember.

The venue at Work-Work was filled with focused faces, a low hum of concentration, and club rhythms playing in the background. The vibe was low threshold, high pulse, and filled with smiles between rounds.

20% of participants were women — our highest female turnout yet — and 57% were first-timers at Fuzzsjakk. Several players were surprised at how well the combination of chess and music worked, and many stayed long after the tournament just to enjoy the atmosphere.

All players either received their first Fuzz-rating or had their existing rating updated — now available on fuzzsjakk.no. Track your progress and see how you compare with others.

Tournament Winner:

Rokas Bliudzius (6.5 out of 7 points)

Rokas joined his first Fuzzsjakk tournament back in January at the now-closed Bær & Bar. Since then, he’s played in three more events and already won the Best Amateur prize once — at Jovial in February.
This Thursday at WorkWork, he took it a step further and won the entire tournament with an impressive 6.5 out of 7 points.
With a current Fuzz rating of 998, Rokas is now on the verge of leaving the Amateur category and stepping into the ranks of the Challengers. Watch this space!

Best Female Player:

Merel Broek (5 out of 7 points)

Merel played her first Fuzzsjakk tournament in March at Jovial, where she took home the prize for Best Female Player.
Returning for her second tournament at WorkWork, she did it again — this time standing out in a field of seven women.
Consistent, calm, and strong on the board — we’re excited to see what Merel does next!
