Just two weeks after the record-breaking CHESSRAVE with 180 players, 21 participants gathered for a much smaller — but incredibly cozy — edition of FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE at Work-Work.

This time we started early, at 14:00 — unusually early for a FUZZSJAKK event — but the vibe was perfect. Instead of a DJ setup, we went with a YouTube playlist of soft jazz and funky chill house, creating a relaxed yet upbeat energy throughout all eight rounds. It turned into one of the most laid-back and social tournaments we’ve ever had — a true “Lounge Edition.”

After four rounds of intense but friendly battles in the 5+2 format, Bjørn Bergset emerged as the tournament winner with 7 out of 8 points. His only loss came in Round 1 against Audun Sørheim (1127) — but from there, he stormed through the field and secured his first-ever FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE victory after five attempts this year.

Bjørn has had a rock-solid FUZZ season:

– 3rd place in FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE #4 in April out of 54

– 15th out of 103 in the Boiler Superblitz at CHESSRAVE earlier this month

and now finally, his first gold. With 4 CHESSRAVE and 12 FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE tournaments under his belt, he’s a true FUZZ veteran.

Audun Sørheim followed up his impressive debut at CHESSRAVE with another strong performance — 5.5 points and the title of Best Challenger. This was only his second-ever FUZZSJAKK tournament, and he made his mark early by defeating the eventual winner, Bjørn Bergset, in the very first round.

Among the debutants, Truls Skogli Fosshaug stood out. Representing ILA Sjakklubb, he scored 4.5/8 with a starting rating of just 876 — including a solid draw against Sigurd Nordgård (1576) and a win over Joakim Simonsson (1109). ILA showed up strong with four representatives (Truls, Stefan Kvinnesland, Odd Håkon Byberg, and Børre Knakkert) and helped make the event feel like a true community gathering.

Biggest Rating Jumps:

  1. Audun Sørheim — +78 (from 1127 ➝ 1205)

  2. Njål Monsen Totland — +70 (from 1282 ➝ 1352)

  3. Truls Skogli Fosshaug — +60 (from 876 ➝ 936)

Tournament Winner:

BJØRN BERGSET (7 out of 8 points)

From his first FUZZSJAKK appearance in 2022 with a rating around 800, Bjørn Bergset has steadily climbed the ladder — from the Beginner class all the way to the Expert tier. Over three years and more than a dozen tournaments, he’s become one of FUZZSJAKK’s most consistent and respected competitors.

Bjørn’s rise has been defined by quiet focus and persistence:
🥇 1st place (Beginner Class) at CHESSRAVE 2022 at Rockheim
🥉 3rd place (Medium Class) at CHESSRAVE 2024 at Havet
💥 Multiple top finishes in this year’s FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE series
🔥 15th out of 103 in Boiler Superblitz at SJAKKRAVE 2025

Now, after six Lounge appearances this year, he finally took his first FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE victory — dominating the Work-Work edition with 7 out of 8 points.

Thank you

All in all, it was a warm, social, and super enjoyable afternoon at Work-Work — exactly what FUZZ BLITZ LOUNGE is all about.

Huge thanks to Work-Work for hosting us once again, and to everyone who joined. Next stop: the season finale at Elvesvingen / Trondheim Spektrum — where FUZZSJAKK returns in full force to close out the year.
