The next BEGINNER BLITZ tournament takes place at Jotunheimen Social Bar.
We run a 7-round blitz tournament (7+2) built specifically for players under 1000 rating — whether you’re completely new or starting to find your rhythm. The focus is simple: play, improve, and be part of something social.
This isn’t just about results.
It’s about getting into the game.
WHAT BEGINNER BLITZ IS
BEGINNER BLITZ is a low-threshold tournament format designed for players in the 0–999 range.
No pressure. No expectations. Just real games, real opponents, and a setting where it’s easy to show up and play.
Some are playing their first-ever tournament.
Others are chasing their first real streak.
Everyone is part of the same ecosystem.

7 minutes + 2 seconds increment
Open for all players under 1000 rating (Chess.com / fuzz-rating)
THE BEGINNER UNIVERSE
To keep things competitive and motivating, the field is divided into three categories:
Rising Star (0–299)
You’ve just entered the world of chess.
Improver (300–599)
You’re starting to understand the game.
Beginner (0–999)
You know the basics — now it’s about consistency.

You don’t need experience.
You don’t need a perfect rating.
You just need to show up and play.
We use our own web app, FUZZBETA, to run our tournaments.
This is where pairings, rounds, and results are handled. The platform is free to use.
If you have participated in FUZZSJAKK in 2025, you already have a user account.
If you can’t find it, contact us at mikael@fuzzsjakk.no and we’ll help you.
If you don’t have an account, simply create one at www.fuzzbeta.no.
Once you have a user:
Sign up for the tournament in FUZZBETA
Buy a ticket on Tikkio (unless you play for free)
Show up at the venue
In FUZZBETA, you can:
Follow pairings and table assignments
See results and standings live throughout the tournament
If you have a Chess.com or Lichess rating, enter it when buying your ticket.
Not sure about your rating?
Just show up — we’ll help you on site.
Playing for free (e.g. under 300 rating)?
Your rating will be registered when you arrive.
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the start.
The tournament is played physically, but managed digitally through FUZZBETA.
We take care of the flow so you can focus on playing — with a DJ, food and drinks at the bar, and a relaxed lounge atmosphere throughout the event.
